GENERAL MAP OF THE ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE

0F MAY 9th AND 10th, 2013

This solar eclipse is the TENTH ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE of the 21st century and the first SOLAR ECLIPSE of 2013.

It will be visible on two continents:
   - South East ASIA and OCEANIA.
Its central band will be visible as anANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE in AUSTRALIA, North of the State of Western Australia, then it will cross the entire Northern Territory from West to East, the Northern tip of the State of Queensland and then it will cross the Southernmost part of PAPUA NEW GUINEA, then the SOLOMON ISLANDS and the two KIRIBATI archipelagos. It will then cross nearly all the Southern PACIFIC OCEAN and will end off the West Coast of the American Continent.

This ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE will be partly visible in most of INDONESIA, EASTERN TIMOR, PAPUA NEW GUINEA, NEW CALEDONIA, VANUATU, THE FIJI ISLANDS, all the countries of MELANESIA and most of MICRONESIAand POLYNESIA, including FRENCH POLYNESIAand WALLIS AND FUTUNA.

Be aware that thisANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE will cross the International Date Line.
It will, in fact, start at daybreak on FRIDAY 10 MAY 2013 in Southern INDONESIA, PAPUA NEW GUINEA, AUSTRALIA and NEW CALEDONIA and end late during the day on THURSDAY 9 MAY 2013 in AMERICAN SAMOA, HAWAI, FRENCH POLYNESIA and the West Coast of the American Continent.
This is both exceptional and unique.

Because of the rarity of the sight of an Annular Solar Eclipse, such eclipses are very exciting to observe.
But that makes it all the more important to protect the EYES, because there is no safe phase during an Annular Solar Eclipse
